GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Freshman
Tess Studley shattered the school record in the 5k as the University of South Carolina Aiken women's cross country team finished seventh at the PBC Championship Saturday.
Flagler won the meet while North Georgia and Augusta finished second and third, respectively.
Head coach
Marshall Leonard's team was led by Studley, who finished the meet in 19:16.4. She shattered the 13-year old school record of 19:34 by Keely Gillespie, who set the previous school record on Oct. 23, 2010. Studley took 22
nd at the PBC Championship.
Fellow newcomer
Taylor Joop finished 32
nd after posting a personal-best mark of 19:45.7 at the meet. Joop's time marked the fifth-best time in school history.
Rookie
Alaynah Guthrie finished 39
th with a personal-best time of 20:42.9. Fellow newcomer
Amaiyah Smith was not far behind her in 40
th place. Smith posted a personal-best time of 21:06.2 at the meet.
Freshman
Bailey Kirkland finished with a personal-best time of 21:50.4. Her time was good enough for 48
th place.
Olivia Robertson was 53
rd after crossing the line in 23:44.9 while
Olivia Moriates was one place behind her with a mark of 23:58.3.
The Pacers return to action at the NCAA Regionals Nov. 4.
