MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a 5-4 decision at Georgia College Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers stand at 18-15 overall and 5-8 in league play.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, head coach Jaclin Poole's team knotted the score. Taylor Butts led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Lauren Wexler. After moving to third on a groundout, Butts raced home on a wild pitch.

The Bobcats regained the margin with a pair of runs in the bottom of the stanza, but Poole's team was up for the challenge. USC Aiken cut the deficit to one with a run in the fourth. With one away, Jena Dewalt blasted a solo round-tripper to make it 3-2.

The score remained the same until the sixth. Brianna Dow led off the frame with a single to the gap in left center field and came home on a Mallory Shaver double. With two down, Skylar Morley singled to center field, pushing across Courtney Leisner, who came in as a pinch runner for Shaver.

Georgia College tied the game at 4-4 with a run in the bottom of the sixth and ended up scoring the game-winning run with two outs in the seventh inning.
