AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team picked up a 5-3 win over Florida Southern Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 3-2 on the year while the Mocs drop to 2-4.
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the third,
Sean McQuillan singled and moved to second when
Jackson Hannon was hit by a pitch. After the base runners each swiped a bag,
Nick Tripp earned a walk. A wild pitch plated McQuillan.
Dalton Graves lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Hannon for a 2-1 advantage.
USC Aiken pushed the margin to 3-1 in the fifth. Tripp doubled to right field with one down and moved to third on a groundout. After a walk to

Josh Sharp reached on an error, allowing Tripp to cross home plate.
Playing small ball in the sixth, the Pacers added to the margin. After a lead-off walk to
Tyler Littlefield, McQuillan and
Jeff Cyr each reached on bunt singles. Hannon ripped a fly ball to left field for a sacrifice fly as Littlefield scored.
The Mocs pulled within one in the eighth, making the score 4-3.
Blankenship got one run back for the home squad with a base knock to left that plated Hannon, who had opened the frame with a double to left.
For the game, McQuillan wrapped out three hits while Sharp had two. Hannon crossed home a pair of times.
On the mound,
Luke Parker got the start and worked four innings. He gave up one earned run and had four strikeouts.
Louie Smith tossed three scoreless frames and got the win.
Grant Stanford worked one third of an inning before
Austin Hohm completed the game and notched the save.
