AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team has been selected third while
Tehree Horn garnered preseason all-conference honors, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Head coach
Mark Vanderslice's team was picked to finish third with 57 points. The Pacers are tied with Lander for the third slot.
Augusta picked up nine first-place votes to win the league (81 points) while Columbus State was second with 64 points.
USC Aiken and the Bearcats were followed by Clayton State (48 points), North Georgia (43 points), Flagler (42 points), Georgia College & State (21 points), Georgia Southwestern (21 points) and Young Harris (16 points).
Horn, a 6-3 junior guard from Toledo, Ohio, is coming off a second-team all-conference season. Last year, he played in 27 games, notching 26 starts. Horn led the team by netting 15.7 points per game. He was tabbed the PBC Player of the Week on Jan. 24.
Horn poured in a career-high 30 points in the win over Clayton State on Jan. 19. Last year, he netted double digits 23 times, including eight times of at least 20 points.
The Pacers open the 2022-23 season at the Region Challenge, which is hosted by Tusculum on Nov. 11-12. USC Aiken squares off against the Pioneers on Nov. 11 before taking on the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial on Nov. 12.
