AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team recently spent time at Johnston Elementary as part of "Basketball And Books" Day.

Head coach Mark Vanderslice's team spent time reading with a class prior to playing basketball with the youth during a playtime at Center's Gymnasium after receiving a call from the Edgefield County Youth Empowerment Center. 

"We are very fortunate to be in a position to make an impact on some of the youth in our community," Vanderslice said. "It was a great opportunity for our team to champion the importance of academics and serve as an example to others through positive energy!"

The Pacers interacted with 25 students that ranged up to 5^th grade.
