AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision at Augusta Tuesday evening.

The Pacers are now 2-2 on the season.

Sydney Bresee led the way with a team-best 10 kills while Alisha Pitt registered nine to go along with three blocks. Fellow rookie Kaitlyn Rodriguez tallied eight kills while Anita Cookey-Gam and Alie Smith had seven apiece.

Caroline Foster recorded her second double-double with 37 assists and 11 digs. Kayla Duggan had 21 digs in the contest.

After losing the first frame, USC Aiken fell behind early in the second stanza. Down 20-17, Rodriguez took a pass from Foster for the kill. After a bad set by the home team, Kayla Duggan served up an ace.

Trailing 21-20, Bresee smashed a pass for a kill and an attack error gave the visitors a 22-21 lead. Back-to-back errors by the home team pushed it to 24-21. Moments later, Smith finished the set with a thunderous kill.

In the third set, USC Aiken trailed 21-16 but rallied for a 22-21 advantage. Bresee had two kills in the stanza while four miscues by the Jaguars helped even the set. However, AU would go on to win 25-23.
