AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team lost a pair of matches Saturday, falling to Mars Hill 3-1 and Lenoir-Rhyne 3-2.
The Pacers are now 15-6 on the season.
In the opener against the Lions,
Alie Smith registered a match-high 21 kills to go along with 23 digs for her 64
th career double-double, establishing a school record during the rally scoring era.
Sadie McKay notched a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Alisha Pitt hammered home 13 kills while
Emily Lammers netted 12 kills.
Caroline Foster posted a double-double with 41 assists and 11 digs.
Sophie Meredith dished out 16 assists.
Defensively,
Kari Mercer added 22 digs. At the service line, Smith tallied three aces while Foster and McKay had two aces each.
In the nightcap, head coach
Glenn Cox's team won the first two sets before dropping the final three. Smith led the team with 16 kills to go along with 24 digs and three aces. Lammers totaled 10 kills while Pitt and McKay accounted for nine and eight, respectively.
Anita Cookey-Gam and
Kayla Duggan chipped in six kills each.
Foster notched 34 assists and 20 digs while Meredith dished out 18 assists.
Mercer posted a team-high 35 digs. Smith led everyone with three aces while Foster and McKay had two each and Cookey-Gam pitched in one.
