Sweeping The Series
For the second consecutive season, the USC Aiken baseball team opened the year by going 3-0 against Lincoln Memorial. The Pacers had their Friday game postponed, but won 8-6 on Saturday before winning by scores of 20-5 and 15-5 on Sunday.
Here's To You, Mr. Robinson
Lindsey Robinson Jr., got the starting nod on Saturday for the season-opening game. He worked five spectacular innings. Robinson Jr., struck out five batters and did not allow an earned run while only walking one, giving up one hit and allowing one run.
Lucky Number 7
In Sunday's doubleheader against the Railsplitters, head coach
Kenny Thomas' team registered seven runs in the second inning of each game. In the first game, it gave the Pacers a 7-1 lead and in the final game of the series, the seven-run outburst gave the squad an 11-2 advantage.
Blake's Big Game
Blake Jenkins had an outstanding middle game of the series. In the 20-5 victory, Jenkins registered three hits in four at bats. Jenkins tallied a double and two singles while driving in five and scoring twice.
Piling Up The Runs
Through three games of the 2020 campaign, USC Aiken is racking up the runs. The Pacers scored 43 runs in the three outings, giving the team an average of 14.3 runs scored a game. The squad is allowing just over 5.3 runs an outing.
Inside The Numbers
This week, USC Aiken hosts Shepherd on Friday, Feb. 7, Saturday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 9. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 140-90 (60.9 percent) in Friday games, 328-216 (60.3 percent) in Saturday contests and 195-142 (57.9 percent) in Sunday affairs. During the same time, the program is 9-1 on Feb. 7, 10-5 on Feb. 8 and 9-4 on Feb. 9.Â
