AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 36 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a hard-fought 6-1 match to No. 11 North Georgia Monday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Pacers are now 14-3 on the season and concluded PBC regular-season play with a 6-3 mark. The three league losses marked the fewest in school history.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team narrowly lost the doubles point. Second-seeded
Victoria Giannaccini and
Alice Neves dropped a 7-6 match. The duo of
Elena Bompieri and
Teresa Franco Dias lost by a 6-4 score at No. 1.
Karina Blas and
Edith Croda, playing at No. 3, lost their match by the same score.
In singles action,
Rebekka Heigermoser picked up the team's lone point. She won by a score of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
Bompieri lost a hard-fought 7-6, 6-1 contest at No. 1. Blas had a solid outing, but fell by a 6-3, 6-4 count at No. 3.
The Pacers will find out their opponent for the PBC Tournament Tuesday morning.
