Pacers Contain Mountain Lions

AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 36 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team posted a 7-0 win over Young Harris Thursday in a league contest.

The Pacers are now 14-2 on the year and 6-2 in league action.

The squad picked up the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3. The tandem of Victoria Giannaccini and Alice Neves registered a 6-1 win at No. 2 while Karina Blas and Edit Croda did not have an opponent to face, giving them the win.

Elena Bompieri shattered the school record with her 13th win at No. 1 singles this season. She registered the victory via scores of 6-4, 6-4. Teresa Franco Dias notched a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2.

Croda saw time at No. 3 and won a three-set thriller by scores of 2-6, 6-1, 10-8. Blas finished the day undefeated by winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.


Head coach Steve Dahm's team won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default.

The team returns to action Monday when it hosts No. 11 North Georgia at 12 p.m.
