FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Chowan Saturday afternoon for the longest winning streak in the program's history.
The Pacers are now 9-0 on the season while the Hawks are 0-4.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team took the lead by snagging both of the doubles matches.
Elena Bompieri and
Teresa Franco Dias posted a 6-2 win at the top spot.
Alice Neves and
Victoria Giannaccini took home a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot.
Bompieri continued the Pacers lead after claiming the No. 1 singles match by scores of 6-3, 6-3. Dias extended the margin after posting a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 2.
Third-seeded
Edith Croda won 6-3, 6-3 while
Karina Blas took down her opponent 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4.
Rebekka Heigermoser finished things off in the No. 5 spot with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory.
The Pacers return to action Sunday when they take on Bluefield State at 10 a.m.
