MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a pair of games at Mount Olive Saturday by scores of 5-1 and 3-1.
The Pacers are now 9-9 on the season.
In game one, head coach
Jerry Snyder's team jumped out to a 1-0 lead.
Courtney Strauss was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt.
Hannah Price ripped a single up the middle for a 1-0 edge.
The Trojans knotted it in the bottom of the first and took the lead with another run in the third. USC Aiken registered a couple of base hits, but the squad was unable to get anyone past first base. UMO scored three runs in the sixth for the 5-1 win.
For the game, Price accounted for two hits and one RBI.
Sydney Burk and
Maci Hutto each had a base knock.
In game two,
Sarah Sams drew a walk to lead off the second frame. She moved to second on a bunt and later scored on an error for a 1-0 lead. However, the Trojans plated two runs in the bottom of the inning for a 2-1 edge.
Trailing 2-1 in the sixth, Burk blasted a double, but she was left stranded.
For the game, Burk and
Kathleen St. Peter each registered base hits.
The Pacers return to action Monday when they play at Fayetteville State in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
