FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 19 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team posted a 5-2 win at Chowan Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 8-0 overall, while the Hawks fall to 1-4 overall.
USC Aiken snagged the doubles point after claiming both matches. Top-seeded
Salvador Bandeira and
Antonio Sabugueiro notched a 6-2 victory, while
Vicente Andrades and
Tales Silva cruised to a 6-4 win at No. 2.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team picked up three wins in singles action. Silva bested the No. 1 player 6-1, 6-3. Sabugueiro, playing at No. 2, defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-3.
Francesco Satta rounded things out by tallying a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action Sunday when they take on Bluefield State in Florence, S.C., at 10 a.m.
