AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team notched a 4-3 victory over Augusta Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 8-0 on the season, including a 2-0 mark in league play. The Jaguars fall to 5-4 overall and 0-3 against conference foes.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a 1-0 edge by claiming all three doubles matches.
Elena Bompieri and
Teresa Franco Dias posted a 6-1 win at the top spot.
Victoria Giannaccini and
Alice Neves registered a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 slot. Third-seeded
Karina Blas and
Edith Croda tallied a hard-fought 7-6 win.
In singles action, Bompieri tallied a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot. Franco Dias garnered a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position.
Croda continued her strong play, outlasting her foe at No. 5 by a 6-3, 7-5 score.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they tangle with Chowan in Florence, S.C., at 2 p.m.
