AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 19 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team posted a 5-2 win at Augusta Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 6-0 overall, including a 2-0 mark in league play. The Jaguars fall to 4-5 overall and 0-3 against conference competition.
USC Aiken snagged the doubles point after claiming all three matches. Top-seeded
Salvador Bandeira and
Antonio Sabugueiro notched a 6-4 victory while
Vicente Andrades and
Tales Silva cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 2.
Francesco Satta and
Alex Sklizovic posted a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 slot.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team picked up four wins in singles action. Silva needed extra time, but bested the No. 1 player 2-6, 6-4, 7-6. Bandeira, playing at No. 2, defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-4.
Sabugueiro tallied a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 while Andrades took home a 6-1, 6-7, 10-4 win at No. 4 singles.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they tangle with Chowan in Florence, S.C., at 2 p.m.
