AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory over Limestone Monday.
The Pacers are now 7-0 on the season while the Saints are 1-4.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team took a 1-0 lead by snagging all three of the doubles matches.
Elena Bompieri and
Teresa Franco Dias posted a 6-1 win at the top spot.
Karina Blas and
Edith Croda took home a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 slot before
Alice Neves and
Victoria Giannaccini wrapped up doubles play with a hard-fought 6-4 victory.
Bompieri gave the Pacers a 2-0 lead after claiming the No. 1 singles match by scores of 6-4, 6-1.
Victoria Giannaccini extended the margin after posting a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 3.
The Saints pulled within one after winning at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, but Dahm's team secured the win by notching victories at No. 6 and No. 5. Sixth-seeded
Rebekka Heigermoser won 6-1, 6-0 while Croda finished off her foe by a 6-4, 6-2 score.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host Augusta at 2 p.m.
