NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a 6-4 decision to Augusta in a non-conference contest at SRP Park.
The Pacers are now 17-13 on the season.
The Jaguars scored five runs in the bottom of the second, but USC Aiken cut into the deficit in the fourth.
Alex Mills led off the stanza with a monster shot over the left field wall to make it 5-2.
In the fifth,
Trey Polewski singled up the middle and trotted to second on a walk to
Conner Durden. Polewski moved to third on a fly ball from Mills. After Durden stole second,
Blake Jenkins ripped a single to center field, plating both to make it 5-4.
AU increased the margin to 6-4 on a homer in the fifth.Â
The teams were scoreless the rest of the way, but USC Aiken continued to battle. Durden rocketed a single to right field with one down in the ninth. A balk allowed pinch runner
Jackson Hannon to go to second, but Thomas' team was unable to push across another run.
For the game, Mills had a pair of hits while Jenkins drove in a pair.Â
