GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 38 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory at Lander Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 12-1 overall and 4-1 in league play. The Bearcats fall to 5-11 on the year and 0-4 against conference foes.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team gained the doubles point by winning a pair of doubles matches. The squad tallied a 6-0 win at No. 2 behind outstanding play from
Victoria Giannaccini and
Alice Neves.
Karina Blas and
Edith Croda notched a 6-1 win at the No. 3 position for the 1-0 lead.
Elena Bompieri totaled a 6-3, 6-2 score for a win at No.1 singles. Giannaccini won a long-lasting three-set match by a score of 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 at No. 3. Croda registered a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4.
Blas cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 while
Rebekka Heigermoser garnered a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 6 spot.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Flagler at 9:30 a.m.
