COLUMBUS, Ga. – The No. 38 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team saw its program-record 11-match winning streak come to an end with a 6-1 loss at No. 15 Columbus State.
The Pacers are now 11-1 on the season and 3-1 in league play. The Cougars improve to 11-3 on the season.
In doubles action, head coach
Steve Dahm's team gave the home squad all it could. At No. 1,
Elena Bompieri and
Teresa Franco Dias lost a 6-4 decision. Second-seeded
Alice Neves and
Victoria Giannaccini dropped a hard-fought 6-3 contest.
In singles action, Bompieri snagged the team's lone point. After dropping the first set 7-6, Bompieri registered a 7-6, 10-6 victory.
The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they travel to Lander for a league contest starting at 2:30 p.m.
