COLUMBUS, Ga. – The No. 11 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a 6-1 decision at No. 3 Columbus State
The Pacers are now 10-1 on the year and 3-1 in league action. The Cougars improve to 13-1 on the year.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team fought hard in doubles action, but the home team managed to secure the point. Top-seeded
Salvador Bandeira and
Antonio Sabugueiro lost a 6-3 decision.
Vicente Andrades and
Tales Silva lost by the same score at the No. 2 slot.
Alex Sklizovic and
Francesco Satta posted a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position.
In singles action Bandeira picked up the team's lone point at the No. 2 position. Bandeira lost the first set 6-3 before rebounding to knock off his foe 6-4,10-8.
At the top spot, Silva pushed his opponent – the top-ranked player in the latest national rankings – to three sets before falling.
The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they travel to Lander for a league contest starting at 2:30 p.m.
