AMERICUS, Ga. – The No. 11 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team posted a 7-0 win at Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the league, while the Hurricanes fall to 4-10 overall and 0-2 in the PBC.
USC Aiken took the lead by taking all three of the doubles matches. Top-seeded
Salvador Bandeira and
Antonio Sabugueiro notched a 6-4 victory, while
Vicente Andrades and
Tales Silva cruised to a 6-3 win at No. 2.
Francesco Satta and
Alex Sklizovic rounded things out at No. 3 with a 6-2 victory.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team also swept in singles action. Silva bested the No. 1 player 6-1, 6-1. Sabugueiro, playing at No. 2, defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-0 while Bandeira also won out by tallying a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3. At the No. 4 spot, Andrades took home a 6-4, 6-3 win and Satta came out on top in the No. 4 spot 6-0, 6-0. Finally, Valentin Larroque finished things off with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow, March 24 when they head to Columbus State at 12:00 p.m.
