AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to Francis Marion Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 1-11 on the year, including 1-6 in league play. The Patriots stand at 6-5-1 overall and 3-4 against conference competition.
Trailing 1-0 in the 14
th minute of work,
Erika Bateman blasted an attempt, but it was blocked by a defender. USC Aiken earned a corner kick in the 25
th minute off the boot of
Marianne Ross.
Amanda Raleigh flicked it toward the frame, but the keeper was there for the save.
Lauren Sigmon's shot to tie it at 1-1 was stuffed by the keeper in the 27
th minute of play.
Down 2-0 in the second half, USC Aiken controlled the possession. It led to a shot by
Gressa Olson at the 51:53 mark.
Willa Olson notched an attempt in the 61
st minute, but the keeper was up for the challenge.
USC Aiken earned a corner kick with less than five minutes to go, but the FMU defense turned away an outstanding set piece.

Madi Banks stopped two shots in goal while
Makenzie Maxwell registered one save. Each played 45 minutes between the pipes.
