AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout Rebecca Martinez has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for September.

Martinez, a senior from Wellington, Fla., guided the Pacers to a 12-0 record during the month.

The libero averaged 6.43 digs per set, which leads the PBC and is in the top five nationally. She has registered double-digit digs in every match.

Martinez tallied a season-high 31 digs in the four-set win over West Florida. She garnered at least 20 digs in eight of the 12 matches while only three contests have gone past three sets.

Martinez registered a season-high four aced in the PBC-opening victory over Flagler while dishing out a season-high nine assists in the sweep of Shorter.

Martinez is second on the team in aces and is second in the PBC in total digs.

The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2019-20 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
