FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 19 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team netted a 7-2 win at Francis Marion Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 13-4 overall and 4-4 in league play.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Second-seeded
Vicente Andrades and
Antonio Sabugueiro registered an 8-2 victory. Wojciech and
Alvaro Garcia Gil won by the same score at the No. 3 slot.
Dahm's team rolled to five wins in six attempts in singles action. Andrades, playing at No. 1, downed his foe 7-6, 6-2.
Sabuguerio continued his solid play, winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Third-seeded Garcia Gil accounted for a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Liam Wiggins needed extra time in his match, but he came out on top 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot.
After dropping a match at No. 5,
Alex Sklizovic finished off the win by knocking off his foe 6-1, 7-5, at the No. 6 position.
The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they play at Limestone at 2:30 p.m.
