AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 19 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team registered a 5-2 victory over No. 14 Wingate Thursday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 11-5 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team rolled to a 3-0 lead in doubles action. Top-seeded
Tales Silva and
Alex Sklizovic netted an 8-4 win while
Vicente Andrades and
Antonio Sabugueiro won by the same margin at No. 2. Third-seeded
Alvaro Garcia Gil and
Wojciech Adamek tallied an 8-7 win for the sweep.
In singles action, Sabugueiro gave the Pacers a 4-0 lead with his 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 2. After the Bulldogs made it 4-2 with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, Garcia Gil clinched the match with his decisive 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 4 slot.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow morning when they host Salem International at 9 a.m.
