USC Aiken Falls To No. 2 North Georgia

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina softball team lost a pair of games to No. 2 North Georgia Saturday afternoon.

Scores were 17-2 and 5-0.

The Pacers are now 12-34 on the season and 4-14 in league play.

The second-ranked Nighthawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first frame. Head coach Jerry Snyder's team tried to even it up in the bottom of the frame as Hannah Price ripped a single down the left field line. However, she was left stranded.

The visitors added three runs in the third and eight in the fourth, taking a 13-0 lead. However, Snyder's squad got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.

Katelyn Powell drew a walk. With two down, Sydney Kate Murphy ripped a double to straight-away center field, putting two runners on. Courtney Strauss found a spot on the right side of the infield and rocketed a pitch through the hole, plating both runners. Strauss promptly swiped second base, but was left stranded.

In the nightcap, Snyder's team looked sharp, but the Nighthawks managed to take the game by a 5-0 score.

With the contest scoreless in the second, the visitors loaded the bags. A wild pitch by Chandler Terrapin managed to get out of the jam.

Strauss belted a single to left field with two down in the bottom of the stanza, but she was left at first base. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Brielle Jungblut beat out an infield hit and swiped second, but nobody was able to plate her.

Terrapin returned to the circle for the first time in over a month and performed well.

The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host Claflin in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Live stats and video at PacerSports.com.
