YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team dropped a 5-2 contest to Young Harris Friday evening.
The Pacers fall to 24-15 overall, while registering a 15-7 record against PBC foes.
The Pacers struck first in the top of the first stanza.
Daulton Weeks beat out an infield single to the shortstop. The next batter,
Brian Parreira, followed by blasting a home run over the left field wall for the 2-0 advantage.
The Mountain Lions would knot the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning, and take the lead by plating one in the fifth. They would increase their lead to 5-2 after scoring two in the sixth.
The Pacers threatened in the top of the seventh inning.
Chandler Rogers reached first base on a fielders choice, followed by a
Jose Bonilla single, advancing Rogers to third. However, the Pacers were unable to plate any runs in the inning.
For the game,
Brian Parreira,
Nile Goings,
Conner Durden and Bonilla all registered two hits. Parreira drove in two while Goings picked up a double.
On the mound,
Daniel Wiggins worked 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while striking out three.
