JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a pair of games at Carson-Newman by 8-0 scores.
The Pacers are now 6-12 on the season while the Eagles are 16-6.
In the opener, head coach
Jerry Snyder's team was held without a hit through the first four innings. Trailing 3-0 at that point (with two earned runs),
Chandler Terrapin roped a base hit on the first pitch of the frame through the left side of the infield. However, three straight outs ended the threat.
C-N added two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth for the victory.
In the nightcap, the home squad jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but Snyder's squad quickly battled back. Terrapin led off the second with a base hit on the first pitch she saw. She moved to third on a double by
Sydney Kate Murphy. With one down, the pitcher fielded the ball and managed to get Terrapin out at third base before a fielder's choice ended the stanza.
Terrapin recorded a base knock in the fourth inning, but USC Aiken was unable to drive her in.
For the game, Terrapin finished two-for-two while Murphy went one-for-two.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host Coker at 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
