COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost an 8-1 decision at No. 3 Columbus State Friday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 8-6 overall, including a 2-4 record in conference action.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team fell behind 3-0 after doubles play, but the squad put forth a solid effort in each contest. Top-seeded
Olivera Veskovac and
Teresa Franco Dias lost an 8-5 contest. Third-seeded
Elena Bompieri and
Alice Neves fell by an 8-2 score.
Veskovac bounced back in singles play, taking down her No. 48 Noa Davico with relative ease at No. 1. She posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory. The victory marked the lone win for USC Aiken.
Victoria Giannaccini took her opponent to a third set, but fell 1-6, 7-6, 5-10.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they play at Georgia Southwestern. The match is slated to start at 12 p.m.
