AMERICUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team notched a 9-0 league win at Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 9-6 overall and 3-4 in league action.
Top-seeded
Olivera Veskovac and
Teresa Franco Dias garnered an 8-4 victory in doubles action.
Kayla Calvert and
Victoria Giannaccini dismantled their foes by an 8-5 count at No. 2. Third-seeded
Alice Neves and
Elena Bompieri tallied an 8-1 win.
In singles play, Veskovac continued her stellar day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1. Calvert posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 slot while
Karina Blas entered the line-up and notched a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3.
Giannaccini accounted for a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the No. 4 position. Neves needed three sets at No. 5, but picked up a 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 win. Dias closed out the win with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of her foe at the No. 6 spot.
The Pacers return to action Thursday when they host No. 21 Wingate at 2 p.m.
