PEMBROKE, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a hard-fought 6-5 game at UNC Pembroke Thursday evening.
The Pacers are now 20-11 overall and 11-5 in PBC play.
Head coach
Kenny Thomas' team trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but the visitors quickly knotted the contest.
In the top of the second,
Brian Parreira garnered a lead-off walk. With one down,
Philip Watcher pushed him to third on a single to right field.
Sean McQuillan's groundout allowed Parreira to race home, evening the score at 1-1.
The Braves regained the lead in the fourth with a run, but USC Aiken posted a two-run sixth for a 3-2 edge.
Jose Bonilla ripped a 1-1 offering down the right field line for a triple. He was able to trot home two pitches later as
Daulton Weeks blasted a pitch high over the center field wall for the one-run margin.
UNC Pembroke scored two runs in the bottom of the frame for the 4-3 lead.
After a scoreless seventh, Weeks launched his second homer of the day – another shot to center field. It was a two-run shot as Bonilla had reached on a single to second base. The round-tripper made it 5-4 in favor of the Pacers.

For the game, Bonilla and Weeks had three hits apiece. Weeks registered two homers and four RBI. He also added a double. Bonilla garnered a triple. Watcher, McQuillan and
Chandler Rogers all had base hits. McQuillan tallied one RBI in the loss.
