AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team netted an 8-1 win over rival Augusta Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 8-5 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles action.
Teresa Franco Dias and
Olivera Veskovac tallied an 8-5 with at the top spot.
Kayla Calvert and
Victoria Giannaccini registered a 9-7 victory at No. 2 while
Elena Bompieri and
Alice Neves garnered an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 slot.
Veskovac rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 decision at the No. 1 singles position.
Karina Blas wasted little time in dismantling her foe 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Bompieri totaled a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 slot.
Calvert needed extra time to defeat her opponent at No. 4, winning by a score of 7-5, 3-6, 10-5. Giannaccini posted a 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 win at No. 5.
The Pacers return to action Friday when they travel to Columbus State at 2:30 p.m.
