GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team garnered a 9-0 win at North Greenville Thursday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 6-5 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a 3-0 lead after strong play during doubles action. The tandem of
Teresa Franco Dias and
Olivera Veskovac tallied an 8-5 win at No. 1 while
Kayla Calvert and
Alice Neves garnered an 8-0 victory at the No. 2 slot. Third-seeded
Victoria Giannaccini and
Elena Bompieri won by default at No. 3.
Veskovac continued the strong play with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1.
Karina Blas accounted for a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 2.
Bompeiri, playing at No. 3, won 6-1, 6-4. Calvert cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 position. Giannaccini tallied a win by the same score at the No. 5 spot. Franco Dias made it a 9-0 blanking after she was credited with a win by default at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Lander at 2 p.m.
