Pacers Drop Two At Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a pair of games at Limestone Friday evening in a non-conference doubleheader.

The Pacers are now 2-4 on the season while the Saints improve to 4-0.

In game one, head coach Jerry Snyder's team fell behind 3-0 after two innings. However, the team bounced back to plate a run in the third and fourth. With one down, Brielle Jungblut drew a walk and scampered to second on a single by Jessica Stanley. Hannah Price's base knock drove Jungblut home, making it 3-1. Leah Boghosian reached on a muffed throw in the fourth, allowing Courtney Strauss to trot home after she had reached on a lead-off double for a 3-2 score.

Trailing 4-2 in the seventh, Kristan Lowery singled and moved to second base. Deja Robinson came in as a pinch runner and moved to third on Janee McCarthy's single to left center field. Stanley reached on an error, scoring Robinson. Price was intentionally walked to load the bases. McCarthy tied the contest on a wild pitch, but the Saints won the contest with a run in the seventh.

Lyndie Dorgan started game two and was solid in the circle. She did not allow a hit until the fourth frame and the game remained scoreless through five innings. The Saints broke it open with five runs in the sixth – including three unearned – for the 5-0 win.

In the nightcap, McCarthy and Dorgan were the lone two USC Aiken student-athletes to garner a hit while Jungblut garnered a walk.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Belmont Abbey at 12 p.m.
