AIKEN, S.C. –The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team earned an 8-6 walk-off victory over Francis Marion Sunday afternoon in the third game of the series, completing the sweep against Francis Marion.

The Pacers are now 9-4 overall and 3-0 in conference action.

The Patriots would strike first, scoring a run in the top of the first inning. However, Garvin Alston Jr. would force a grounder to Philip Watcher at second base, where the Pacers would turn an inning-ending double play.

After the bottom of the second inning, rain would cover Roberto Hernandez Stadium, causing a brief rain delay resulting in a stoppage of play.

Following the rain delay, both teams would remain quiet until the bottom of the fifth, where head coach Kenny Thomas' team would show signs of life. Conner Durden would start the stanza with a walk, which was followed by a Daulton Weeks single. With no outs in the inning, Brian Parreira blasted a home run over the right field foul pole to knot the score at 3-3.

Francis Marion would respond in the next inning, scoring two runs in the top of the stanza, giving the visitors a 5-3 advantage.

Jose Bonilla led off the bottom of the fifth with a double down the left field line. With one down in the inning, Joey Smithers singled to center field, plating Bonilla and bringing the score to 5-4. After advancing to second on a groundout, Smithers would score following a Weeks single, knotting the score at 5-5. With two outs, Parreira doubled down the left field line, plating Weeks for a 6-5 advantage.

The Patriots would threaten in the top of the sixth with runners on first and second with one out. However, Jon Yarbrough would strike out the next batter and force a groundout to third base, ending the inning.

Francis Marion would plate one run in the top of the ninth, knotting the score at 6-6. With the bases loaded and two outs, Freddie Beamon III forced a pop fly to Weeks, ending the inning and the threat.

The Pacers were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth, forcing the game into extra innings.

The Patriots threatened again in the top of the 10th with runners on first and second and one out. However, Jamie Morlan was able to keep the Patriots at bay, forcing a flyout to right field and a groundout to third base.

In the bottom of the 11th, the Pacers would go to work. After a Nile Goings walk with one out in the stanza, pinch hitter Brady O'Neil deposited a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence for the game-winning two-run homer.
