Total Team Effort Sends Pacers To 7-0 Shutout Win

AMERICUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team earned a 7-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern Saturday evening.

The Pacers are now 3-11 on the season while the Hurricanes stand at 2-13.
 
The Pacers pulled ahead right away, with Willa Olson finding the back of the net 1:11 into the contest with the help of her sister Gressa Olson. From there on out, USC Aiken blew past the Hurricanes, scoring three more goals in the first half.
 
After three corner kicks in quick succession, Amanda Raleigh gained another goal for the Pacers in the eighth minute off an assist by Madison Friedman. A mere six minutes later, Willa Olson scored her second goal of the match off an assist by Gressa Olson.
 
Though Georgia Southwestern had a couple attempts, including a corner kick, the Pacers held them off and managed to grab another goal in the 23rd minute. Following a corner and flurry of shots by their teammates, the Olson duo came through again with Gressa Olson finding the back of the net off a pass from Willa Olson.
 
The second half started off even, with both teams taking shots but failing to find the back of the net. At the end of the 59th minute though, the Pacers scored again off the boot of Kaitlyn Armstrong.
 
For the last 24 minutes of the game, the Pacers truly showed their command of the field as they kept the Hurricanes from taking a single shot while picking up two more goals.
 
The first came off the foot of Nicole Hayes with the help of Monica Armendariz in the 70th minute as the Georgia Southwestern keeper came out of the goal in an attempt to stop her shot. The second came in the last 10 minutes of the game (81:24) when Marisa Lee followed up a corner kick by scoring the final goal of the contest.
 
For the match, USC Aiken held a 26-15 advantage in shots, including 16-8 on goal. The team also held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
 
In goal, Tashiana Kwatowski had six saves in 76:19 while Makenzie Cude had two saves between the pipes while playing 13:41.
