USC Aiken Falls At Young Harris

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 2-1 decision at Young Harris Saturday afternoon in a league contest.

The Pacers are now 2-8 overall and 0-5 in PBC action. The Mountain Lions improve to 5-5 overall and 3-3 against conference foes.

Trailing 1-0 after an early goal by the home squad, head coach Hilary George's team tied the contest at the 35:02 mark when Monica Armendariz found the back of the net off a pass from Willa Olson.

Tashiana Kwatowski made three outstanding saves in the second period, keeping the match tied at 1-1 until late in the half. However, at the 77:00 mark, the Mountain Lions broke through for a 2-1 advantage.

After the score, USC Aiken's defense stepped up multiple times, turning away the home team.

In the waning moments, USC Aiken continued to push forward. The Pacers controlled the play, but the squad was unable to get a shot off despite putting the ball in the box on a pair of occasions.

For the match, Willa Olson registered for shots, including three on frame. Baylea Payne accounted for two shots, including one on goal.

Kwatowski was sensational between the pipes, stopping 11 shots in the loss.

The Pacers return to action Monday when they travel to UNC Pembroke for a 7 p.m. start. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
