Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Upset Bid Comes Up Just Short Against No. 19 Young Harris

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team played a brilliant match but came up just short against No. 19 Young Harris Saturday afternoon by a 3-2 score.

The Pacers are now 3-4-1 on the year and 1-1 in league play.

After a scoreless first half, both teams got things going in the final stanza.

Head coach Ike Ofoje's team netted the first goal of the contest. In the 47th minute of play, Jorvel Tobierre played the ball into the box. Aaron Richard put his head on it for the 1-0 lead.

The visitors tallied two quick goals, with the first coming in the 64th minute with the next coming at the 69:41 mark for a 2-1 edge.

However, Ofoje's team battled and would knot the score at 2-2 less than five minutes later. In the 75th minute of action, Kento Ito dribbled up the left side of the pitch and flicked it to Roberto Biendicho, who rocketed the ball to the right side of the goal.

YHC scored the go-ahead goal at the 78:42 mark, but USC Aiken had more chances to tie it. In the 83rd minute, Daniel Orillac took a pass from Richard and played it toward the frame. However, the ball was sent less than a foot wide of the goal.

With less than a minute to play, USC Aiken was fouled just outside the box. Andre Simmond blasted it toward the goal, but it was stopped. Driss Baraket got the ball and registered a shot that sailed two feet wide of the frame.

For the match, YHC held a 10-9 edge in shots, including a 7-4 margin on goal. Chase Boulton played all 90 minutes between the pipes. He stopped four shots in the loss.

The Pacers return to action Wednesday, Oct. 4, when they play at Flagler. The match is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. Live stats will be available at PacerSports.com.
