LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men' soccer team lost a 2-1 decision at West Alabama Monday evening in a non-conference contest.
The Pacers are now 3-3-1 on the season while the Tigers improve to 5-2.
The home squad managed to take a quick 2-0 lead by the 17
th minute of action. In the 22
nd minute of play,
Andre Simmond nearly made it 2-1. He blasted a shot that rocketed toward the frame, but it bounced off the crossbar and the score remained at 2-0.
Kento Ito's header in the 26
th minute was saved by the keeper. From that point forward, USC Aiken's offense came alive.
Driss Baraket shot wide and Ito's attempt was saved in the 37
th minute.
Simmond's corner kick in the 56
th minute nearly resulted in a goal, but
Machi Provost's shot went wide left.
Daniel Orillac's attempt was saved in the 57
th minute of action.
USC Aiken continued pushing forward and in the 87
th minute, the squad drew a foul in the box.
Roberto Biendicho quickly blasted the ball into the back of the net, making it 2-1.
Head coach
Ike Ofoje's team had a last-minute shot, but it was blocked.
For the match, USC Aiken was outshot 14-12. The Pacers had four shots on goal compared to six for the home squad.
Chase Boulton played all 90 minutes between the pipes and saved four shots. The visitors tallied five corner kicks compared to one for the Tigers.
