Pacers Drop Road Match To Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 3-1 decision at Georgia College Wednesday evening in a PBC contest.

The Pacers are now 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in league play.

Head coach Hilary George's team started the match with an aggressive style of play. A mere eight seconds into the match, Gressa Olson blasted a shot that sailed wide of the frame. Later in the first minute, Willa Olson rocketed a shot on frame that was stopped by a defender. At the 2:54 mark, Willa Olson put a shot on goal that was saved.

Both of the teams were scoreless entering the second half of play.

USC Aiken jumped on top in the second half when Catherine McHale took the ball in the box and flipped it to Willa Olson, who rocketed home a shot past the keeper for a 1-0 score at the 57:11 mark.

Four minutes later, the home team struck back, netting a goal from 30 yards out to make it 1-1.

With the score still tied, Sarah Drury and Sarah Moore each put shots toward the goal that narrowly missed.

In the 81st minute, GC tallied what turned out to be the game-winning goal off a corner kick. The Bobcats added another goal in the 86th minute for the 3-1 score.

For the match, Katie Commins played all 90 minutes between the pipes and stopped three shots.

USC Aiken outshot the home team 20-14. Each squad tallied three corner kicks.
