Box Score AIKEN, SC--Freshman
Bradley Key delivered the game winning home run clearing the left field wall in the Pacers four-run eighth inning to give USC Aiken (12-7) an 8-4 win over Southern Indiana (4-6) on Tuesday night at Satcher Field.
Key also worked himself out of a jam in the ninth to notch his third save of the season. USCA picked up its eighth win in its last nine games.
Jason Nuzny (1-2) worked 8.0 innings scattering eight hits and one walk while striking out six in his first win as a Pacer. The junior lefthander from Conway, SC, allowed four runs, but only one was earned as USCA's defense tied a season high committing seven errors.
USI grabbed the early lead in the second inning as three straight errors gave the Screaming Eagles runners on second and third with no one out. The lone hit of the two-run inning belonged to
Brian Scroggins.
Ashley Farr hit his fourth home run of the season in the bottom half of the inning to get the Pacers on the board and cut the lead to 2-1. USCA and Southern Indiana countered each other by placing single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Farr's RBI groundout in the seventh scored
Kyle Langley from third to knot the game up at 4-4.
Langley and
Tavis Cummings each posted 3-for-4 nights to lead the Pacers.
Farr and
Key were 2-for-4 and combined for five RBI.
Clint Keown and
Micheal Snelgrove also had multi-hit games for USCA.
Dan Tomashek (0-1) surrendered three earned runs on three hits in facing four batters in the ninth to register the loss for USI.
Marcus Renn,
Justin Konopacki, and
Scroggins were all 2-for-4 to lead the Screaming Eagles at the plate.
Both teams will play again on Thursday, March 7 at 6:00 PM as USCA continues with its current 11-game home stand.
