AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team split a doubleheader with rival Augusta Friday afternoon, winning the first game 11-1 before falling by a 2-1 count.
The Pacers are now 20-20-1 on the season.

Jerry Snyder's team jumped on top of the first game when hurler
Chandler Terrapin rocketed a two-run homer over the right center field wall in the bottom of the first.
Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the third, USC Aiken's bats came alive.
Sydney Kate Murphy doubled down the right field line. With two down, Terrapin ripped a double to left field, plating Murphy for a 3-1 edge.
Hayley Elkins followed her up with a two-out, two-run homer to left center field for a 5-1 margin.
Kristan Lowery sent a twisting ball down the right field line. She ended up on third base and came home on the next pitch when
Julianne Leduc smacked a single to left field.
Leah Boghosian singled to third base before advancing to second on a throwing error. With runners on second and third,
Brielle Jungblut sliced a double to left field, scoring Leduc. Murphy doubled home Boghosian and Jungblut for a 9-1 score. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Murphy crossed home plate on
Hannah Price's single to make it 10-1.
In the fourth, Elkins reached on a fielding error and moved to second on a groundout. Murphy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the final 11-1 score.
Terrapin went the distance in the circle. She gave up one run on four hits while striking out one. At the plate, Jungblut, Murphy, Price and Terrapin had two hits apiece. Murphy and Terrapin each drove in three runs while Elkins had two RBI. Elkins, Murphy and Terrapin each crossed home twice.
In game two, Snyder's team jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. With one down, Boghosian walked and promptly stole second base. An infield single by Jungblut pushed Boghosian to third. With two down and Jungblut on third, Jungblut raced home on a wild pitch for the score.
The Jaguars plated two runs in the top of the sixth, but the Pacers fought back. USC Aiken had runners on first and second in the bottom of the frame, but a pop fly ended the threat.
In the seventh, Jungblut's two-out single put runners on first and second. However, a groundout ended the game.
The Pacers return to action Sunday when they play at Georgia College. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
