USC Aiken Falls At Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a doubleheader at Young Harris Sunday afternoon by scores of 3-2 and 8-0.

The Pacers are now 19-19-1 on the season.

Head coach Jerry Snyder's team fell behind 1-0 in the third, but managed to knot the score in the top of the fifth. With one down, Magan Jean Thrower blasted a double to center field. Leah Boghosian came in as a pinch runner and promptly scored when Kristan Lowery ripped a double to left center field.

YHC managed to plate two runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 3-1 advantage. However, USC Aiken would continue to battle.

In the top of the sixth, Sydney Kate Murphy singled to left field and moved to second on Hannah Price's groundout. Murphy hustled to third on Chandler Terrapin's line-out to center field. However, the squad was unable to get on the board in the frame.

USC Aiken got things going in the seventh when Courtney Strauss belted the first pitch she saw into the outfield. A groundout pushed her to second base. An error allowed Lowery to reach and Strauss to move to third.

With two down, Brielle Jungblut singled down the left field line, scoring Strauss. The Pacers, however, could get no closer in the 3-2 loss.

The second game started out promising as Jungblut used her speed to beat out an infield hit. She moved to second on Murphy's sacrifice bunt, but back-to-back groundouts ended the inning.

Murphy and Strauss were the only other Pacers to get base hits in the nightcap.

The Pacers return to action Friday when they host Augusta at 4 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
