USC Aiken Drops Doubleheader At North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken lost a doubleheader at North Georgia by scores of 10-0 and 2-0, respectively.

The Pacers are now 19-17-1 overall and 6-10 in league play. The Nighthawks improve to 31-9 on the year and 11-4 against conference foes.

With one down in the top of the first, Sydney Kate Murphy blasted a single to left field, but she was left stranded.

Trailing 4-0 in the top of the third, Brielle Jungblut rocketed a two-out, two-strike pitch to right center field. Murphy was hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second. However, a fielder's choice ended the threat.

Jungblut continued her solid day with an infield single in the top of the sixth. Murphy laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt, pushing Jungblut to second. However, back-to-back outs ended the stanza. The home team ended the game early with six runs in the bottom of the frame.

In the second contest, Jungblut belted a single to lead off the game. Murphy moved her to second base with a sacrifice bunt. With two down, Hannah Price drew a walk, but a fly ball ended the inning.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Price was hit by a pitch and hustled to second on Magan Jean Thrower's bunt. However, back-to-back outs ended the threat.

Leah Boghosian singled in the fifth. After being moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt, Jungblut's grounder allowed Boghosian to reach third. A strikeout stopped the frame.

USC Aiken made it interesting in the seventh. Boghosian walked and moved to second on a passed ball while Lyndie Dorgan reached first. However, a groundout ended the game.
