GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 23 University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a 9-8 contest at Lander Sunday afternoon in the series finale.
The Pacers are now 21-9 overall and 7-5 in league play.

Kenny Thomas' team trailed 1-0 heading into the fourth, but
Nile Goings plated a two-out double to left field. He raced home on
Luke Westerberg's single to left field. With the bases loaded,
Daulton Weeks singled home Westerberg and
Jonathan Banks for a 3-1 edge.
USC Aiken pushed the margin to 5-1 on
Mitchell Price's two-run homer, scoring
Freddie Beamon III, in the top of the fifth.
The Pacers made it 6-1 in the sixth when
Tyler Ammerman scampered home on a passed ball. Goings lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, plating
Jose Bonilla. After Price swiped third, he gave the visitors an 8-1 lead by hustling home on a wild pitch.
However, the Bearcats scored three in the sixth, , two in the seventh and two in the eighth, knotting the contest.
USC Aiken had a runner on in the 10
th, but could not plate a run. In the bottom of the stanza, the home team scored with one out for the game-winner.
For the game, Banks and Goings led the way with two hits apiece. Price and Weeks drove in two runs apiece while Price scored twice.
