AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team earned a 79-56 victory over Winston-Salem State Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference contest.
The Pacers are now 3-2 on the season while the Rams fall to 2-4.
USC Aiken was led by a trio of student-athletes that scored double figures.
Emily Waters poured in 18 points while
Kyrie' Chandler tallied 17 points to go along with eight assists.
Shay Fluellyn accounted for a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Star Toomey contributed eight points, six rebounds and two blocks in the victory.
Melyk Taouil had five just five points, but snagged 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists.
For the game, USC Aiken connected on 28-of-64 shots from the floor (43.8 percent). The team outrebounded the visitors 49-41. The Pacers dished out 21 assists o 28 baskets. USC Aiken forced 21 miscues and converted that into 22 points. The home squad controlled the paint, outscoring the visitors 36-18.

Mark Miller's team led 3-2 before embarking on a 9-0 spurt for a 12-2 edge. During the run,
Emily Waters connected on a lay-up.
Shay Fluellyn buried a three-ball and also made a charity toss.
Lonesha Lee completed the spurt with a deep shot off a pass from
Kyrie' Chandler.
The Rams battled back, pulling within three at 15-12, heading into the second period.
The visitors tied the contest at 17-17. The squads traded baskets until a three-point shot by the Rams gave them a 24-21 lead. Waters connected on two free throws with 1:19 to play in the half, making it a one-point contest. Down by two with 48 seconds to play, Toomey hit a shot, knotting the contest at 25-25 entering intermission.
USC Aiken broke open the game in the third stanza, outscoring the Rams by 16. Leading 35-32, the Pacers reeled off 11 straight points, taking a 46-32 lead at the 3:33 mark off a bucket from Toomey. Miller's team increased the margin to 16 on a shot by Fluellyn with 2:35 to go in the quarter and maintained a 57-41 lead going into the fourth.
The Pacers were not challenged over the final 10 minutes of action. Leading by 13 at 66-53, Miller's group used a 13-3 spurt over the final 4:08 to end the game.
During the run, Waters made back-to-back shots off assists from Chandler and Taouil.
Marissa Bruce got into the action with a pair of free throws. Chandler canned a three-ball and hit two more foul shots, making it 77-56. Waters concluded the scoring with a lay-up with 37 seconds to go for the 23-point win.
The Pacers return to action Nov. 28 when they travel to Johnson C. Smith for a 6 p.m. contest.
