AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a 93-57 contest to Carson-Newman in the season opener for both teams.
The Pacers are now 0-1 on the season while the Eagles improve to 1-0.

Mark Miller's young team was led by
Melyk Taouil's team-best 10 points. Leonesha Lee tallied nine points and Marissa Bruce contributed eight markers. Kyrie' Chandler and Shay Fluellyn tallied six points each.
For the game, USC Aiken connected on 18-of-63 shots from the floor (28.6 percent) and the Eagles hit 34-of-81 shots (42 percent). Miller's team was out-rebounded 56-44.
The Pacers dished out 13 assists on 18 field goals.
Off the bench, Star Toomey pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds, including three on the offensive glass. She also accounted for a game-high three blocks in 24 minutes of work.
After a slow start, USC Aiken was outscored by only six in the second and fourth quarters – and played hard throughout the entire contest.
