SALISBURY, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team lost a tough 1-0 contest at Catawba Wednesday evening in a non-conference contest.

Head coach Ike Ofoje's team pushed forward from the beginning of the match. Andre Simmond registered the team's first attempt in the 10th minute, narrowly missing high of the crossbar.

After a save by Dylan Brooks-Sharp in the 32nd minute, USC Aiken countered as Chukwudi Apugo and Guiseppe Cimino each put shots on frame, but both were turned away.

Daniel Orillac nearly put the Pacers on the board just prior to halftime. However, his shot hit the post and trickled away, keeping the contest scoreless at the break.

The home team registered a goal at the 62:24 mark for the 1-0 advantage.

Driss Baraket and Roberto Biendicho tallied shots on goal in the 69th minute of play, but both times the shots were stopped by the keeper. A minute later, Jorvel Tobierre nearly headed the ball into the back of the net, but it narrowly missed.

For the match, Ofoje's team outshot the home squad, 15-9. USC Aiken posted six shots on frame compared to four by Catawba. The Indians tallied five corner kicks compared to four by the visitors.

Brooks-Sharp played all 90 minutes between the pipes, stopping three shots.
