Pacers Cage Blue Bears

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over Livingstone Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest.

The Pacers are now 19-2 overall.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was led by Alicia Hines' 11 kills. Julia Forster tallied six kills while hitting .750. Kelsey Spurlin established a career-high seven kills while Julianna Hoekwater hammered home six kills.

Lauren Howard distributed a match-best 17 assists while Juliette Narbonne contributed 14 assists to go along with two aces.

Brynn Bonner reached double figures with 11 digs and served up a contest-best three aces. Hoekwater was outstanding defensively, tallying 10 digs.

The team hit .337, registering 46 kills against 12 errors on 101 attacks. The squad served up 10 aces compared to one by the visitors.

Tied at 2-2 in the first set, Avery Macklin's kill off a pass from Emily Teelon started a 7-0 spurt by the home squad. During the run, Bonner served up a pair of aces while Forster pounded home two kills. Cox's team rattled off 10 of the next 12 points en route to the 25-11 victory.

Leading 14-7, Spurlin produced a kill, sparking a 4-0 run. During the run, Brittany French, playing in her first career match, slammed home a kill on her first career attempt. With the score at 22-12, French dropped back to serve and promptly sliced the defense for an ace on her first career attempt.

The teams were tied at 5-5 in the third frame and Cox's team embarked on a 8-2 run to break things open. Hines started things off with a kill. During the spurt, Hoekwater had two kills, Perrault found the court once as did Okwunne Ogbogu and Spurlin. A few plays later, Bonner ended the match with an ace.
