AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 9-0 decision to No. 10 Carson-Newman Monday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The Pacers are now 2-3 on the year while the Eagles improve to 4-1.
Sarah Drury led the way for head coach
Hilary George's team with four shots, including one on frame.
Sarah Moore garnered a shot on target.
Between the pipes,
Karin Cadwalader stopped six shots while playing all 90 minutes.
Trailing 2-0 in the 13
th minute of action,
Sarah Drury turned and blasted a shot toward the frame that was stopped by the Eagles' keeper.
Cadwalader had a pair of stellar saves within a three-minute span to keep the contest at 2-0 for a short period of time.
Drury registered back-to-back attempts in the 32
nd and 33
rd minutes of action that missed wide of the goal. Moore rocketed a shot in the 33
rd minute of play, but Jacqueline Burns made an outstanding save to keep the Pacers off the board.
Carson-Newman tacked on two goals in the first 13 minutes of action in the second period
The Pacers return to action Wednesday at 7 p.m., when they host South Carolina State. The match will be part of Pacer Fandemonium.
Last year, USC Aiken and South Carolina State, a Division I school, played to a 1-1 draw.
